The Coat Is Always On // Cat Power

I'm not quite ready to surrender my love for mini dresses to the Winter woes just yet, my solution: pairing them with a classic pea coat. I'm always looking forward to what knits and coats Kookai brings out during the Autumn/Winter seasons, I find myself mentally creating outfits in my head whilst i'm browsing through the store and counting over how many times I can outfit repeat any one particular coat and embrace the chilly days. The first thing that caught my eye with my dress is how much of a kaleidoscopical dream it is, taking my print collection to a whole new level.

Laguna Sunrise // Black Sabbath

via lolajagger

Somedays there is only so much denim on denim one can advocate before they begin to neglect the equally as cool fellow sibling, double floral. The May Laguna dress has been quite a favourite for myself lately, bringing me out of my habitual and foreseeable routine attire of boxy shift dresses and introducing me to more feminine flares and fluted skirting. Alas baby steps of course, so I still had to team this dreamy dress with an edgy Glassons bomber jacket. Dresses like these make me want to use words like Frolic and watch films like Marie Antoinette whilst laying about in the sunshine and I am 100% okay with that.

Varsity, meet flower power - I think you guys could be the best of friends.

You & I // Crystal Fighters

So of course I just had to choose to wear a mini denim pinafore on one of the windiest days, but none the less I still think this Glassons overall-dress creation is the coolest thing in the world. I teamed it up with a silky printed tee by Lola vs Harper and a pair of black boots, that are lost in translation/i've cropped them out of the photograph. I'm completely digging the paint splatter style of the tee, which evidently could also double up as spiderweb-esque - though i'm still deciding as to whether that attribute is a negative or a positive. The ladylike addition of the skirt for the pinafore rather than shorts enables me to style it with a more city chic feel and less farm girl vibes, which is always a bonus.

I'm New Here // Gil Scott-Heron & Jamie XX

 via lolajagger

Sneaking in as much playsuit wear as I can whilst the sunshine is still lingering about. I've been obsessed with this Lola vs Harper purple leopard cardigan and had imagined it would go perfectly with an all white combo so I put that vision into motion and voila. I added in an all time favourite oversized gold plate necklace for a little metal infusion and broke up the all white with the addition of my DAAN tote bag. I purchased these white converse sneakers from the Bondi Markets (still in the box and brand new) a few Sundays ago for quite cheap and I can safely say they are definitely my favourite recent shoe purchase, a major win x 1o. Shamelessly these are actually my first ever pair of white converses i've owned, though I cannot wait to run about in these and wear them to death. Sport Luxe trend imma coming for you.

Metal Heart // Cat Power

Last week Steve Madden and Nine West held their bloggers preview for their SS13 collection at the Duplex Penthouse at Establishment Hotel. The range definitely catered for my eccentric love for statement metal finishes, biker-esque boots that are able to be worn all year round, stud detailing and 90s inspired footwear. Nine West paid tribute to bohemian adventures and balmy Marrakesh nights whilst Steve Madden combined 90's grunge with distressed leathers, studs and espadrilles.
